About Us

Our founder Emma Lavery has been creating and selling art jewellery for over ten years, sourcing and accumulating a vast hoard of beads whilst travelling the world. The Beadvine was created as an online venture to share this passion for highly desirable beads. With a boundless enthusiasm for unique designs, we are always trying to introduce something different to our range. We are extremely choosy about the quality and craftsmanship of our beads, and always buy directly from specialist suppliers and artisans around the globe.
 
Our Venetian beads are not imitations (mass produced in India or China), but inimitable objects entirely handmade according to the age old traditions passed down through generations. As we continue to grow our business, we journey to Venice to meet with our bead makers to personally select our collection, and strive to offer these exquisite beads at the best possible prices.
 
Our Freshwater Pearls have been sourced directly from suppliers that have their own Pearl Farm in the Zhejiang Province of China. Our pearls are graded using one of the most internationally recognised grading systems used by the pearl industry. Our grade definitions are as follows.
 
*       AAA: Virtually flawless pearl. Surface lustre is very high, and 95% of surface will be free from any defect.
*       AA+: Excellent lustre, good nacre, with at least 85% inclusion free surface.
*       AA: The surface will have a very high lustre, and at least 75% of the surface will be free from any type of defect.
*       A+: Moderate lustre, medium nacre of 70%, and some blemishes.
*       A: The lowest jewellery-grade pearl, with low surface lustre and/or more than 25% of the surface showing defects.
